COLOGNE: The 41st edition of the International Dental Show (IDS) concluded successfully on 29 March 2025, reaffirming its reputation as the world’s leading trade fair for the dental industry. Held in Cologne, Germany, IDS 2025 welcomed 135,000 visitors from 156 countries, marking a 15% increase in attendance compared to IDS 2023.
Hosted by Koelnmesse GmbH and organized by GFDI mbH, the commercial arm of the Association of the German Dental Industry (VDDI), the event featured 2,010 exhibitors from 61 countries across 180,000 square meters of exhibition space. With 77% of exhibitors coming from abroad, IDS showcased the industry's global pulse and Germany’s pivotal role as an innovation hub.
Innovation, Investment, and Internationalism
IDS 2025 was more than just a trade show — it was a vision of the future. From dental practices to laboratories, professionals came together to explore cutting-edge technologies, digital tools, and global trends shaping modern dentistry.
"This year's IDS has clearly exceeded expectations. Germany remains an innovation leader in dental care," said Mark Stephen Pace, Chairman of the Executive Board of VDDI.
Echoing the sentiment, Oliver Frese, Chief Operating Officer of Koelnmesse, stated, "Cologne is the home of the dental industry and a place where the future of dental health is shaped."
A Platform for Exchange and Education
IDS 2025 served as a hub for industry veterans and newcomers alike. It introduced digital engagement tools like the IDS app and IDSconnect, and created space for younger skilled workers to engage and learn.
Prof. Dr. Christoph Benz, President of the German Dentists Association (BZÄK), emphasized IDS’s role in collaborative innovation: “It’s a chance for the global dental community to exchange ideas that ensure accessible, modern dental care for all.”
Dominik Kruchen, President of the Guild Association of German Dental Technicians (VDZI), highlighted IDS’s significance for dental laboratories. "Our labs seek out new materials, game-changing workflows, and make well-informed investments," he said.
A notable presence of trainees in the exhibition halls reflected optimism for the next generation of dental professionals.
