KARACHI: Jinnah Medical and Dental College’s (JMDC) Community Dentistry team recently conducted a highly engaging Oral Health Awareness session at the Luminary Learning Circle Foundation, located at the Javed Miandad Campus in Karachi. The session, held on [specific date], was part of the college’s ongoing efforts to instill lifelong healthy oral hygiene habits in children at an early age.

Under the leadership of Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Haider, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Community Dentistry at JMDC, the team provided essential education on the importance of proper oral care to young students from grades 1 through 5. The initiative aimed at empowering the next generation with the knowledge they need to take care of their teeth and gums, preventing future dental issues.

A hands-on experience was at the heart of the session, with 340 students thoroughly examined by Dr. Arish Sohail, Aimen Imran, and four House Officers—Zarmeena, Hamna, Anoosha, and Sadia—who worked closely with the school’s administration. They traveled to various classrooms, offering individual oral health check-ups to each student and ensuring that no child was left behind in the learning process.

One of the most interactive parts of the session was a demonstration of proper tooth-brushing techniques. Using dental models, the team showed the children the correct way to brush their teeth, emphasizing the significance of regular oral care to maintain a healthy smile. This hands-on approach helped students better understand the importance of oral hygiene, making the lesson both fun and impactful.

The Principal of Luminary Learning Circle extended their heartfelt gratitude to the JMDC team for their dedication to spreading awareness about oral health. The Principal praised the initiative for aligning with the school’s mission of equipping students with vital health habits they can carry throughout their lives.

This outreach program is part of JMDC’s broader commitment to contributing to the community by educating young students on dental care, providing future dental professionals with real-world experience, and promoting preventive health measures. Through efforts like these, JMDC continues to solidify its leadership role in dental education and community service in Karachi.

Looking forward, the success of this program emphasizes the significance of early intervention and community engagement in shaping the future of oral health in Pakistan. As JMDC’s Community Dentistry team continues to make a positive impact, they are paving the way for a healthier, more informed generation, one healthy smile at a time.
