Portuguese Dental Association Congress 2013 held in Lisbon

The Portuguese Dental Association (PDA) organises the largest dental congress in Portugal, annually. Last year it took place in Lisbon, from 21 till 23 November under the Tagus River scenery. The year’s Opening Ceremony featured a Portuguese comedian named Nilton, who presented glimpses of the lighter side of the profession, just before the lectures and institutional speeches began.

With nearly 8,000 participants coming in from 17 countries, the PDA congress had all the conference rooms filled to capacity.The scientific programme featured over 67 insightful lectures and 128 scientific presentations made by renowned national and international experts. It covered all aspects of dental medicine and enlightened more than 2,745 participants.

The event was graced by the presence of the Portuguese Minister of Health - Paulo Macedo, as well as the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation - Luis Campos Ferreira. "These high officials appreciated the trust and confidence of the Portuguese citizens and health services in the expertise and quality of the local dentists". The President of Portuguese Dental Association, Ordem dos Médicos Dentistas also addressed and personally welcomed the participants of the conference.

Expo-Dentária was an informative and pleasant exhibition held at the venue and was visited by more than 6,640 professionals and stakeholders of the oral health sector. The Portuguese Dental Association exhibition is an important international landmark in its field, which featured more than 115 companies displaying their innovative products. A colorful fashion show also enriched the programme as one of the several parallel initiatives during the exhibition. A grand party at a special venue also attracted more than 2,200 participants.
