Prof. Dr. Tasleem Hosein honored as Professor Emeritus by Fatima Jinnah Dental College

KARACHI: In a momentous recognition of her lifelong dedication to dental education, Prof. Dr. Tasleem Hosein has been conferred the prestigious title of Professor Emeritus by Fatima Jinnah Dental College (FJDC). The announcement came following a special meeting of FJDC’s Board of Management, held to honor her remarkable contributions over the past three decades.

A Legacy of Academic Excellence

Dr. Tasleem Hosein's visionary leadership, particularly during her 15-year tenure as Principal, was instrumental in shaping FJDC into a premier institution. Under her stewardship, the college earned Category "A" accreditation from PM&DC and Category "W" (Excellent) from HEC, solidifying its position at the forefront of dental education in Pakistan. Her contributions to postgraduate education were equally impressive, with her department producing over 100 FCPS specialists in Operative Dentistry, along with numerous Ph.D., M.Phil, MS, MSc, and DDPH graduates.

The Path to Professor Emeritus

In light of her unparalleled contributions, the Academic Council of FJDC recommended Dr. Hosein for the honorary title of Professor Emeritus. This recommendation was endorsed by the University Syndicate and formalized at a special meeting held at FJDC’s Pre-Clinical Campus. The honor places her in the esteemed company of Prof. Dr. Essa Arain, FJDC’s first Professor Emeritus, setting a tradition of recognizing academic excellence and institutional dedication.

Transition of Leadership

Following her resignation, Dr. Tasleem Hosein stepped down as Principal and Dean of FJDC. The Board of Trustees, led by Dr. S. Baqar Askary (Chairman FJDC), appointed Prof. Dr. Babur Ashraf as the fourth Principal of the college. This decision, made through due process by the Fatima Jinnah Dental College & Hospital Trust, was unanimously approved by the Academic Council and the Board of Management. Prof. Dr. Ashraf is expected to build upon Dr. Hosein’s legacy, guiding FJDC to even greater achievements.
