KARACHI: In a historic and inspirational development for Pakistan’s healthcare and dental community, Prof. Ambreen Afzal Ehsan has been elected Vice President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP)—the first-ever dentist and first woman from Sindh to assume the position since the institution’s founding in 1962.
This landmark victory marks a moment of immense pride and a progressive milestone in the journey of inclusivity, representation, and gender empowerment in Pakistan’s medical education landscape.
A proud moment for Pakistan’s dental community
The Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Central Council, led by its President Dr. Khurshid Ahmad and supported by the entire team, extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Ambreen on this remarkable achievement. The PDA termed her election as a symbol of visionary leadership, professional dedication, and a step forward for female and dental representation in national medical institutions.
Prof. Ambreen’s appointment as Vice President not only breaks a six-decade precedent but also reinforces the growing influence of dentistry in Pakistan’s academic and clinical policy-making structures.
Karachi chapter of PDA hails a new era of leadership
In a separate message, PDA Karachi Chapter also celebrated Prof. Ambreen’s victory. Dr. Feroz Jahangir, General Secretary of PDA Karachi, shared heartfelt sentiments:
“Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Ambreen Afzal on being elected as the Vice President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. PDA Karachi is proud of your achievement and wishes you continued success in your journey.”
This sentiment echoes the admiration and hopes placed upon her leadership by dental professionals across the country.
A message of unity and pride for the healthcare fraternity
The entire dental fraternity of Pakistan, both public and private sector professionals, students, and educators, stands united in celebrating Prof. Ambreen’s success. Her journey serves as a beacon of hope and resilience, especially for women in medicine and those striving to rise through perseverance and integrity.
Looking ahead: visionary leadership for medical education
As she takes charge of her new responsibilities, the dental and medical communities await the positive transformations her leadership will bring. From policy advocacy to inclusive growth, expectations are high for a tenure marked by integrity, empowerment, and excellence.
